Chinese research teams have broken the 50‑year‑long bottleneck of piezoelectric technology and developed ultra‑thin piezoelectric sound‑emitting films. Without magnets, coils or speaker cabinets, films can generate sound when attached to surfaces. Combined with directional sound technology, audio can travel like light beams toward targeted listeners. Featuring lower power consumption and longer service life, this tech can be applied in vehicles, smartphones, home interiors and public spaces.
