Even though it’s officially part of Japan’s most popular high-speed rail route, this underrated train station is almost always empty. Most people don’t bother stopping here because only the Kodama Shinkansen—the slowest Tokaido bullet train—actually stops at Mikawa-Anjo. On top of that, the local JR station nearby doesn’t connect well with faster trains, making it one of the most inconvenient train stations in Japan. In this video, I’ll show you what it’s like to visit this lesser-known Shinkansen stop, explain why the local train to bullet train transfer is so inconvenient, and why this Tokaido line station barely gets used.
