Schwarzach-Sankt Veit station in the Austrian state of Salzburg is the northern terminus of the Tauern Railway (Tauernbahn), which splits off the Salzburg-Tyrol Railway main line and continues south towards Spittal an der Drau in Carinthia, crossing the Alpine Divide through the 8,371 m (27,464 ft) long Tauern Tunnel. With its strategic location, the station sees a great variety of passenger and freight traffic, both domestic and international. Freight trains often receive additional locomotives in Schwarzach-St. Veit to aid them up the 2,5% incline of the Tauernbahn's northern ramp.
