Oxtail Kare-Kare | No ready-mix used

Kare-Kare is a popular Filipino meat stew with a thick, rich and tasty peanut sauce. It is mostly served on special occasions. There are quite a few variations, some using beef tripe with oxtail. The vegetable components of the dish are string beans, pak choi, eggplant. Some also us banana blossoms. There are also variations to thicken the sauce. It can't go without the shrimp paste. There is also a ready-made mix that is available in Asian supermarkets. The popular brand is Mama Sita's.
