Wilson Runs Amok Goes On a Tree Killing Spree

Sometimes you've gotta do what you've gotta do. When there are too many trees in the forest sometimes you have to get medieval on them. I do just that thinning out these trees. Douglas fir are not doing well in this part of the property. Due to shallow soils in a climate that is on the edge of the range of where they grow. Instead of harvesting the trees, I am girdling them. Cutting rings through the bark with a chainsaw. This will kill the trees, I will leave them as wildlife snags. This will benefit the oak and madrone trees they were competing with. The trees are too small to be merchantable or to put on my sawmill.
