If you have to mount your nice tambourine for l'Histoire du Soldat (or something else) and you want it to look nice, work well, not cost much money, and not take much time, this is the solution I invented. Needed supplies and time indexes below.
Needed for dampener:
Gaffe tape
Black felt (about 4” by about 10”)
Cheap cutting board
Sharp knife
Some sort of straight edge
Measuring tape
A sturdy table
Gloves (optional)
Needed for cymbal stand mount:
Base washer
Sleeve (optional)
Normal felt washer
Metal washer
Cymabl stand nut
2 hi-hat stand felt washers (wide) – if that’s what you want to use
Time indexes:
0:00 The piece for which I needed to do this
0:43 The tambourine I used for this, and more about the piece
1:01 The purpose
1:08 The look of the finished product
1:22 What you need (well, what I used)
3:34 Measuring and cutting the felt
7:24 Forming to the tambourine
8:30 Fastening to the tambourine
