Who should write your graduate school recommendation letters—and how do you ask? Assistant Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Jennifer Hunter joins Rice University graduate student ambassadors Danny and Eliana to discuss choosing recommenders, sharing application materials and following up as deadlines approach. Drawing on their own experiences, they explain how different recommenders can highlight your research potential, work experience and contributions to a community. They also discuss differences between master’s and Ph.D. applications, navigating conflicting advice and what they would do differently if applying again. "Beyond the Abstract" offers honest conversations about applying to graduate school and life as a graduate student at Rice University.
