HotHouse presents Jazz on A Summer's Day : Wilbert de Joode

Wilbert de Joode – solo bass May 15 “Wilbert de Joode does not play bass; he has become the bass”…. (Ab Baars) “…de Joode's approach to the bass is wholly original, showing little influence but the physicality of the instrument itself. Using gut strings, high action, and no pickup, de Joode's bass harkens back to the early days of jazz when it was more of a percussion instrument. Combine this with his stunning + harsh bowing and you have one of the world's most compelling players of the double bass.” recorded by Charles Bushong May 15, 2011 for HotHouse All rights reserved
