For decades, we were told that ghee was bad for the heart — too much saturated fat, higher cholesterol and an increased risk of heart disease. But now the message seems to be changing. Ghee is being promoted as a natural, traditional and even healthy fat. Some even claim that saturated fat was unfairly blamed in the first place. So were we wrong about ghee? And if you had to choose, is ghee or olive oil better for your heart? In this video, I explain the difference between saturated and unsaturated fats, why saturated fat can raise LDL cholesterol, why the old idea that all fat is bad was too simplistic, and why that does not mean all fats are equally healthy. We also look at why replacing saturated fat with monounsaturated fat, such as that found in olive oil, can help lower LDL cholesterol — and whether ghee can still have a place in a healthy diet. Ghee isn't poison. Olive oil isn't magic. The important question is what type of fat you're eating, how much, and what you're replacing. #Ghee #OliveOil #Cholesterol #SaturatedFat #HeartHealth #HealthyEating Dr Suhail Anwar is a medical doctor and a surgeon- MBBS, FRCS (ed), MPhil, FRCS (Gen Surg), CCST.
