Easy Acrylic Flower Painting for Beginners | How to Create Depth

Learn how to create depth in an easy acrylic flower painting using layers, different flower sizes, a dark background, and simple color-mixing techniques. In this painting, I’m experimenting with colorful gerbera daisies in yellow, orange, red, and pink. This painting actually started with a new friend. 🌸 A coworker asked if I would paint something for her, and when she told me she wanted gerbera daisies, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to try a few techniques I’ve been wanting to experiment with. I started with a dark background and wispy layers of grass, then worked from smaller, more muted flowers in the background to larger, brighter flowers in the foreground. I also experimented with adding tiny amounts of complementary colors to tone down my acrylic paints instead of reaching for brown or gray. The result isn't about painting everything perfectly. It's about experimenting, learning, and discovering little ways to make our art better each time we create.
