The water tower of Southern Africa - and the dreams it powers

Lesotho is the water tower of Southern Africa. Every river that reaches the region - into South Africa, Namibia, Botswana - begins in these mountains. That's a responsibility, and an opportunity: protecting the source that so much of the region depends on. For 50 years, the EU has partnered alongside Lesotho to protect that water, expand access to clean energy, and build the systems that turn natural wealth into shared, sustainable growth. Katiso Tsoho's story runs through the same current. Before Joachim Garments became a name Basotho know, it was one machine - hand-powered, then electric, then industrial - pulling more energy with every stage of growth. The fabric he works with today, and the factories that produce it, depend on the same water systems the EU and Lesotho are working together to protect.
