The incident followed a contentious session that included a dispute over parliamentary proceedings and a censure motion concerning Jamaica’s position on Cuba.[1][2] Phillips later apologized for using an expletive, saying he reacted angrily after McKenzie allegedly made an offensive remark about his deceased mother. McKenzie’s account and the circumstances of the exchange have also been disputed, while Opposition Leader Mark Golding has called for McKenzie to apologize.[3] The clash has sparked fresh debate over conduct inside Gordon House, competing accounts of what happened, and whether MPs should face consequences. Watch as we break down the confrontation, the political fallout, and the questions Jamaicans are asking about accountability in Parliament. #Jamaica #JamaicanParliament #MikaelPhillips #DesmondMcKenzie #MarkGolding #JLP #PNP Sources: Jamaica Observer[1][2] and Jamaica Gleaner[3].
