In an exclusive late-night interview, Ratna Singh alleged that volunteers were detained, monitored and blocked from reaching the capital. Despite internet restrictions, barricades and police action, she said the protest would go ahead. She said barricades, internet restrictions and transport disruptions had made it difficult for volunteers to reach the capital and the protest site. “देखिए, इस टाइम पे दिल्ली में सरकार और पुलिस पूरी कोशिश कर रहे हैं कि लोग प्रोटेस्ट न कर पाएँ।” [01:54] —— [02:30] THE ALLEGED DETENTION OF VOLUNTEERS Singh alleged that people travelling from other states were intercepted on trains and held at banquet halls. She also claimed that some Delhi volunteers faced physical intimidation. According to her, the authorities were treating peaceful protesters as though they were involved in criminal activity. “ऐसा माहौल बनाया जा रहा है जैसे कोई क्रिमिनल एक्टिविटी होने वाली है।” [02:51] —— [03:26] A PEOPLE’S MOVEMENT, NOT A LEADERS’ PROTEST Singh said internet restrictions and detentions had made coordination more difficult, but argued that the movement did not depend on a few prominent individuals. She described the CJP protest as a people’s movement and said supporters would continue trying to reach Jantar Mantar. “सीजेपी का मूवमेंट किसी एक नेता या चेहरे का नहीं, बल्कि लोगों का पीपल्स मूवमेंट है।” [04:12] —— [04:49] SURVEILLANCE CLAIMS AND THE RIGHT TO PROTEST Singh alleged that she was followed and recorded after arriving in Delhi. She said such scrutiny would not deter her from participating in the protest. Her central argument was that peaceful dissent is a constitutional right and should not be treated as criminal conduct. “हम आम सिटीजन हैं और शांतिपूर्ण तरीके से प्रोटेस्ट करना हमारा अधिकार है।” [05:34] —— [09:00] THE LEGAL BATTLE AHEAD OF TODAY’S PROTEST Singh said Delhi Police had questioned whether organisers had complied with the protest-permission process. She disputed the handling of their application and argued that procedural objections could not be used to extinguish the right to peaceful assembly. She also alleged that restrictions on movement undermined constitutional freedoms.
