Professional Logger Cuts Down My Trees!

Turns out one of our daughter's friend's father is a professional logger here in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. He works for a company that clears large areas of forest for all sorts of purposes - mainly forest management/clearing but also for lumber (wood for building, etc.). When he heard that I was cutting down a few of the Sugi [杉] trees out in back of our Kominka, he asked if I needed any help. So, of course I said "YES!". He and his family came out last weekend for the afternoon, but I didn't know that we were going to cut anything down THAT day, we were mostly just hanging out and went for a dip in the river with the kids, but then late in the afternoon he said "so, are we going to cut down a tree or WHAT?", so I said, "Ok, sure!", and before I knew it he was down the back with his saw and gear on and I pointed to a tree, and he went nuts! What a fun experience!
