Punch Fell Into the Zoo Pond...17 Days Later, What Changed

Punch was born on July 26, 2025. His mother did not care for him, so keepers hand-raised him from the next day, with a toy orangutan many fans call "Oran-mama." He joined the troop on Monkey Mountain on January 19. This video follows his March through fan videos filmed on March 7, 17, 20 and 24, next to what the zoo said after the pond: it identified the monkey believed to have pushed him, temporarily separated a few high-ranking monkeys, said this was not "abuse" in the human sense, had three vets checking on him every day, and chose not to take Punch out of the troop. We love Punch and deeply respect the keepers at Ichikawa City Zoo, a small local zoo doing its best for him every day.
