Photoshop can automatically adjust a subject's facial features and even change their expression, using Face-Aware Liquify and the AI powered Neural Filters. Here's how both tools work, and why it's important to use them thoughtfully.
In this tutorial, we'll show you how to resize and reposition eyes, nose, and lips with Face-Aware Liquify, then use Neural Filters to shift a subject's expression, gaze, and lighting using artificial intelligence.

THE STEPS
1. Duplicate your background layer, then go to Filter, then Liquify, to access Face-Aware Liquify on the right side of the dialog.
2. Link the left and right eyes, then use the sliders to adjust eye size, eye distance, nose height and width, mouth size, and even smile or frown, keeping changes subtle for realistic results.
3. Use the Forehead Height slider carefully, and always check with the person in the photo before making noticeable changes to their face.
4. Duplicate your background layer again, then go to Filter, then Neural Filters, and make sure you're connected to the internet since these filters process in the cloud.
5. Turn on Smart Portrait and enable sliders like Happiness, Surprise, or Anger to shift your subject's expression using AI, or use Gaze to change where they appear to be looking.
6. Use the Light Direction slider to add a believable highlight from a new angle, generated automatically by the filter.
7. Choose Output To as Current Layer, Duplicate Layer, or a New Layer depending on how you want to combine this with your other edits, then click OK.
