WE WILL NOT FORGET Perde III • Bölüm 5 The city has fallen. After the destruction of Constantinople, there is nothing left for many people but to leave. “We Will Not Forget” tells the story of those who are forced to leave their home behind. Families come to the harbor carrying whatever they can save. Some have bags, some have books, some carry religious icons, and some have nothing but their memories. They do not know where they are going. They do not know how long they will be away. They only know that they cannot stay. As the ships leave the harbor, they watch Constantinople disappear behind them. The towers are still standing. The domes can still be seen. But the city no longer feels like home. They remember the people who fought beside them. The people who never made it out. The streets where they lived. The churches they once knew. They leave the city behind. But they refuse to forget it. “We Will Not Forget” is the fifth song of Act III, following “The Breach”, “No More Walls”, “The City Falls” and “The Sack”. The city may be behind them. But it remains with them in their memories, their stories and everything they carry into the future. We leave our city behind. But we will not forget.
