That makes the anchorage itself one of the best seats in town at dawn, with the town, the beaches, and the rocks of Land's End all within view of the ship. Out at Land's End, the granite arch known as El Arco marks the place where a peninsula roughly 775 miles long finally runs out into the sea. Cabo sits at the very tip of the Baja California peninsula, where the Gulf of California meets the open Pacific. The gulf is famous for its marine life, and Jacques Cousteau is widely credited with calling it the aquarium of the world. In 2005 UNESCO listed its islands and protected areas as a World Heritage Site, recognizing one of the most biologically rich seas on the planet.
