The Dark Truth About Niko Bellic (GTA Lore)

Niko Bellic is one of the most complex protagonists Rockstar has ever created, but GTA 4 only shows us part of his story. Before Liberty City, Niko had already lived through war, betrayal, organized crime, human smuggling, and years of searching for the person responsible for the deaths of the men he served with. In this video, we break down Niko Bellic’s past, his connection to Darko Brevic, Florian Cravic, Ray Bulgarin, and the real reason he came to Liberty City in the first place. More importantly, we look at how everything that happened before GTA 4 shaped the person Niko became—and whether he was ever actually able to escape it.
