ABIR - Playground - Vevo dscvr (Live)

Pay attention to those who follow the arrival of new artists, and you’ll hear a name pop up repeatedly: ABIR. Pay attention to strong new songs that stick in your head, and you’ll be shakin’ to “Playground,” the 23-year-old singer’s addictive new track and a perfect fit on any playlist that dominates your earbuds this summer. A quick history. As a kid, the Moroccan-born singer fell for the sound of Etta James while cruising with her limo-driver dad in the Virginia burbs. As a teen, she started getting serious about her own music. In 2014 she found herself on a Fabolous feature, and last year made a mark with “Wave,” ditched the DMV, and headed to New York. Check the “Girls” vid; she’s stylin’ strong with silver thigh-high boots and boppin’ the boroughs with her squad. ABIR hit her dscvr session with a guitar AND horn section, and they finessed their way through “Playground” while still putting the passion front and center. Share it with a pal asap.
