Bullies Picked on the Fat Kid, Not Knowing He Was Training to Fight in Secret

Bully 2018 movie recap: bullies picked on the fat kid, not knowing he was training in secret with a retired boxer and Danny Trejo. Full story and ending explained. Jimmy Mulligan is sixteen, heavy and quiet, and he has never thrown a punch in his life. Then Miles, the school bully, tells him he owes $100, the price of not getting beaten up. Jimmy doesn't owe him anything, so he says no, and Miles beats him on the sidewalk on his way home. The old man who steps in turns out to be Clarence "Action" Jackson, a boxer from another era. Action takes Jimmy to Manny, an old trainer with a gray ponytail and tattoos down both arms, who takes one look at him and calls him a pleasantly plump kid who's about to get his butt kicked. So Jimmy makes a deal with the bully. He tells Miles he has an after-school job, and that he'll pay double if Miles waits and leaves him alone. Every day after school, he's really at the gym, learning to hit, and the weight starts coming off. But Miles doesn't stay patient for long. One of his crew drops Jimmy's best friend Bobby in front of everybody, and Miles makes it clear that Andy is next. At a party with Adrian, the girl from his economics class, Jimmy stands up to Miles's drunk friend Eddie for the first time. Then Miles sets a deadline for Monday after school, finds out where Jimmy has been going, and calls in a surprise of his own. In this recap we go through the full story of Bully (2018): the $100 shakedown, the training at Manny's gym, the party, the deadline, and the fight on the school lawn in front of half the school. Then we explain the ending, including the quiet kid in sunglasses, the man Miles called in, and the news story in the final minute. Bully is a small movie, but the gym is where it's at its best. Nobody there treats Jimmy like a joke, and everybody there gives him a hard time anyway. And keep an eye on Bobby in the final fight.
