WHY DID WE START PIAZZA TALK? | Highlights of our 2021

It is curious perhaps why two ordinary people perched on a hill in Tuscany should think to start a vlog and even stranger perhaps to think anyone would be interested. Being an Anglo-Italian couple we have over the years answered numerous questions from those dreaming of a life in Italy or questions about culture and the areas from summer visitors. We have unknotted problems and embraced Italy as a native with a critical eye and a foreigner falling in love with the country over twenty years navigating schooling, language learning, making a living, and just basking in the good and confronting the complicated. Up to now, our main aim has been to show the beauty of our area. We have enjoyed promoting the Lucca area with the help of our wonderful villagers who have thrown their all into helping us explain village life. We have tried to balance this with life in the provincial city of Lucca. It has been a tough time for many working with tourists as in other areas but we hope that these videos will help show the warmth and beauty of our area and of course, we hope we will bring a taste of Italian cooking into your kitchens through Enzo's cooking. In this the first episode of 2021 we look back at some of the highlights of our past year from when we started Vlogging on our channel. In January we were isolated not only because of covid but also our road collapsed leading to a long rebuild. We used wood to keep warm and did house maintenance. Despite the difficulties due to travel restrictions from outside the EU, we were able to welcome European guests for a short season at the farmhouse. We went to the nearby Versilia coast and later in the autumn visited Naples and the Amalfi coast. For Christmas, we made as usual a nativity crib using the little collection of statues that Enzo has acquired from childhood.
