Pearl Harbor was Japan's greatest victory and its biggest mistake. On December 7, 1941, six Japanese carriers sank four American battleships and killed 2,403 people in two hours, for the loss of 29 aircraft. It left the fuel tanks, the dry docks, and every American carrier untouched. It was the last time Japan would choose the hour and place of a battle in the Pacific.
This documentary follows the attack from Taranto and Admiral Yamamoto's planning to the decisions that followed the strike. It covers the Kido Butai, Nagumo's choice to withdraw, the tank farm, the fate of all six carriers, and the battleships that were raised and returned to fight at Surigao Strait.
Every figure comes from after-action reports, loss tables, and ship records, not from legend. This is the record of how a perfect attack destroyed the wrong things.
