FOREVER – Emotional R&B & Hip-Hop Ballad | Szepes Zoltán

FOREVER is an emotional English-language musical adaptation of my Hungarian poem “Örökké”. Built around a slow piano, deep bass and mournful cello melody, the song blends orchestral R&B with reflective hip-hop. It tells of someone who has departed, yet remains alive in every memory, every silent prayer and every room where a light has been left burning. A name carved into stone cannot contain an entire life. Love continues beyond absence—in the rain falling upon marble, in familiar songs, in half-open doorways, and in the fragile hope that somewhere, beyond shadow and flame, the one we miss is still waiting for us. “Forever I’ll guard in my heart still your shining, what will call when my words fall and go. Lyrics: [Bridge-Piano] It stands and stays mute, only stares so worn, a greedy thorn shoots through the heart, untorn. A trembling hand, the air pulls tight and low, a sigh rings out, then rain starts singing soft in one lone flow. [Verse1] Raw living salt is draining out all life, what it steals, it hands to others, cuts like knife. In windless hush the birdsong fades and dies, lays low. Where your name is carved in stone they’ll surely find you so. They won’t forget, you never could forget, they left you, you left them, no plea, no regret. And do they still stand there the very same, so still? If you reached back from your heart, you’d surely break that will. Why can the others not see you rightly? You left every doorway open, wide and brightly. Lamp kept burning, every song turned high and clear, and up until this very moment you stayed here. [Refrain] Forever I’ll guard in my heart still your shining, what will call, what will call when my words fall and go. Forever I’ll guard in my silence your being, between shade and the flame you are the Glow. Forever you rest where the stars make your pillow, forever there, where the stain cannot bloom. Forever in me lives a shy, faltering prayer, hoping in silence you still wait in our room. [Verse 2] But I don’t believe that reading only your name could wake again all the long-gone thoughts that once had warmed me then. Gentle memories, gentle daydreams, banes and burdens, every pain that bends and gleams. [Breakdown] Every bright memory is living inside me, your shape walks beside when the night breaks me through. Forever within me that murmured old promise that the breeze from the sky keeps on drifting from you. You were light in the thickest of shadows, a timeless sign when I lost every way. But now you forever burn bright in my dream-lake, where to swim out alive is a riddle of day. [Verse3] And when one day we two stand by a marked grave alone, and silently watch as the thin rain starts to flow, splashing on marble, every drop leaps, breaks and throws, softly it shivers stone beneath the falling rows. [Bridge] We let it pierce us like thorns through the center, accepting all that our road lets old time enter. So joined with the rainfall our hearts may stay clear, prop up your umbrella-soul with living word sincere, forever remembering who once stood here. [Refrain] Forever burns what has once burned in fire, forever your spirit keeps watch in the blaze. Forever within me the gentle enchantment, awestruck the silence stares into the rays. Forever held high is all that was sacred, forever your face lives in me, do not fear. Forever these few words are sounding inside me: you are still with me while blood beats in here.
