Stuart Alliance Church Worship Service - 10/11/26 - " Where Is Your Confidence?" - Philippians 3:1-3

Where Is Your Confidence? Philippians 3:1-3 – “Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you. Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision; for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirt of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh…” In Philippians 3:1-3, Paul calls believers to rejoice in the Lord, beware of anything that adds to the finished work of Christ, and place no confidence in the flesh. This message reminds us that it is possible to speak strongly about the sin and brokenness around us while overlooking our own need for grace. The gospel does not call us to minimize sin; it calls us to confess it honestly, receive Christ’s mercy gratefully, and stand for truth with humility and love. Our confidence is not in our background, our accomplishments, our moral record, or our religious résumé. We worship by the Spirit, boast in Christ Jesus, and rest in His completed work. Key thought: Those who rejoice in Christ do not build their confidence by condemning others or displaying their own résumé; they boast in Christ alone.
