Otherwise known as "O Come, All Ye Faithful," this classic Christmas hymn was originally composed with four verses in Latin. Adeste (Come, imperitive tense) Fideles (Faithful, you plural) refers to the call of the angels for all those to come and worship the Christ, to behold the Child. I employed a few technical tricks to make this video work. The organ at Faith Presbyterian church has a MIDI module which allows me to record my performance and play it back on demand. With a bit of camera trickery, I filmed both my original organ take and the subsequent piano take. Because both are performed against the same backing track (the MIDI organ performance), the timing lines up perfectly, assuming I can follow my (own) lead. The start and end are the trickiest to time, but with a bit of practice, it can be done. It can also be done live, without camera tricks, as I did for this Sunday morning's postlude - but then you don't have the privilege of seeing two of me!
