Magical Mystery Tour- The Beatles (Guitar Cover)

The new Red and Blue album remixes included some new revelations, including George's electric guitar on Magical Mystery Tour. This used to be slightly audible before, but now we know exactly what he was playing! The Beatles recorded this title track for the 1967 album during the end of the Sgt Pepper sessions. The backing track (recorded on April 25 1967 consisted of Paul on piano, John on acoustic guitar, George on electric, and Ringo on drums. Overdubs would be recorded as late as November 1967 John was still using his 1964 Gibson J-160e jumbo acoustic at this point, as heard on Lovely Rita, A Day in the Life and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. The Beatles were experimenting with plugging these acoustic-electrics into the board direct (DI), as well as micing them. For this cover I'm doing both: micing the J160 with a Neumann condenser, and plugging directly into my interface, and then combining the two signals George either used his Epiphone Casino or Fender Stratocaster on the song. He most likely plugged into a Fender Blonde Bassman or a Vox UL-730 amp. The guitar was treated with a heavy tape flanging effect afterwards. I'm recreating this flanging effect with my Strymon Deco tape plug-in I'm using my 1966 Gibson J-160e and my 2021 USA Epiphone Casino. The Casino is plugged into my 1965 Fender Bassman amp Interesting notes: 0:24 George stays on an E chord for all of his parts, instead of following the G and A chords 0:34 John is heard playing these descending chords- D Csus B/G Bb/G 0:47 John does a nice glissando on the E chord 1:51 John accidentally goes to G chord early 2:10 John plays a C6 chord with A note on the G string 2:20 John ends the
