Vor über 20 Jahren gründeten die beiden Geigerinnen von Salut Salon, Angelika Bachmann und Iris Siegfried, ihr Kinder- und Jugendorchester, die "Coolen Streicher". Kinder zwischen 5 und 17 spielen in dem Ensemble -- immer auswendig und immer ohne Dirigent. Dass ihnen das gemeinsame Musizieren so viel Spaß macht, liegt auch daran, dass für jedes Kind eigens eine Stimme geschrieben wird, die seinem Niveau entspricht. So ist jeder -- egal ob er nur leere Saiten zupft oder schon sehr gut spielt -- gleich wichtig im Ensemble. Zu hören und zu sehen sind die "Coolen Streicher" unter anderem bei den Benefizkonzerten von Salut Salon -- hier im Dezember 2012 im Thalia Theater Hamburg. Dann spielen die Kinder aus Hamburg für Kinder in Chile. Für die Escuela Popular de Artes, eine Musikschule in Achupallas bei Vina del Mar, deren Paten Salut Salon sind, hat das Quartett bereits über 500 000 Euro gesammelt. Th "Cool Strings" Angelika Bachmann and Iris Siegfried, founders of the quartet Salut Salon, for over 20 years have made the musical education of children and young people their cause. ‟We were convinced that children can learn music in a completely different way, in a much more playful way," Angelika Bachmann says. Thus their first children's project was born: The orchestra ‟Coole Streicher" ("Cool Strings"). Any child, no matter how long she has been learning her isntrument, can play with the orchestra, because a part is written for each player according to her ability. "It is just wonderfull to allow children to play music with other people as quickly as possible and that they don't have to practise by themselves for years in their room before they can play in an orchestra," the two professional violinists believe. Music should be open to all children -- Angelika and Iris strive for this goal both in their home city and further afield. Within eleven years Salut Salon donated over half a million euro to the "Escuela Popular de Artes", a music school in Chile they are mentoring. www.salutsalon.de
