Mperwa Dancers - Aye

The Mperwa Dancers are the music group of the small Mperwa Batwa community living on the outskirts of Kisoro, SW Uganda. Consisting of just a small number of families, the Mperwa have set-tled on a small area of borrowed land just a few kilometres from the town. Their distinctive dance style, time signatures and and lead vocalist Jovah have cemented the Mperwa Dancers as one of the most unique music groups Singing Wells has ever encountered. These recordings capture the vibrant performances of the Birara Community, led by village leader Francis and the exceptional Mperwa dancers under Jovah Nyiramajor's direction.
