Southern Pacific Railroad in the Cascades - Cab Forward Helper Operations

A cab forward road engine and two cab forward helpers climb to Cascade Summit with a freight train. The helpers are cut out, turned, and return light to Oakridge. This model railroad layout is set the in the Oregon Cascades, circa 1950s. The lead locomotive and mid-train helper (4275 and 4292) are Intermountain Railways AC-12s.
