Swanage Railway Diesel Gala 2026 (09-10/05/2026)

Another heavily delayed upload but here nevertheless is the Swanage Railway's annual Diesel Gala & Beer Festival, which took place between Friday 8th May - Sunday 10th May. Across the weekend a strong lineup of traction thundered across the Isle of Purbeck putting on a fantastic show. As with any gala some things never go the way you hope so the only locomotive not featured was visiting Class 58 No. 58023; not featured because I only filmed on the Saturday and Sunday of the event with the locomotive failing on Friday morning. Class 33 33025 was a surprise addition to the lineup with planned Class 45 45041 unavailable due to an unfortunate set of circumstances. West Coast Railways supplied the locomotive at the last minute and it proved a formidable addition to the event. Another notable point was the passenger debut of the brand new Stadler Class 99 locomotives, recently delivered to GBRF, with 99004 in particular doing the honours. Whilst not the loudest locomotive on show nor my favourite, it was still a fascinating beast to witness in action.
