Skalextric powered by Johnson's motor, who knew they were so fast

the fourth round of 2026 Scalextric Johnson class. all cars run a Johnson 111 motor. this little motor replaced RX motors and was used in pretty much everything in the scalextric range before the Mabuchi replaced it. It is simple and easy ish to strip and clean, but often generates a lot of heat when run at pace and for long as you will hear in the video. The class is run as a team event so each driver races their car in round one then hands it or a spare to there partner for round 2. I treat the two rounds as happening at the same time and it throws up some unexpected finishes as better drivers drag reluctant cars up the ranks or a superbly prepared car propels a driver to the front.
