8 Very Specific Things I Noticed After Moving to Ottawa

Planning a move to Ottawa and finding that every guide seems to cover the same basic information? This video is a more personal look at living in Ottawa after previously living in both Montreal and Vancouver. I’m sharing eight very specific things that stood out to me soon after my family relocated here. They helped me understand how Ottawa actually works, from the way the city is spread out and divided into smaller pockets to the way people spend their time, raise kids and connect with the area around them. Ottawa can be difficult to picture before you live here. One person’s version of Ottawa may be a downtown apartment, while someone else lives near farmland and still has an Ottawa address. The east and west ends can feel surprisingly separate, Gatineau is only a bridge away, and everyday family life here was different from what I had experienced in Montreal and Vancouver. I’m an Ottawa realtor, but I also moved here with my own family, so I understand how hard it can be to get a clear picture of a city from maps, listings and neighbourhood guides alone.
