There were bicycles in the street, cricket in the park, scraped knees, drive-in movies, AM radio, neighbourhood braais, and the simple excitement of running home before the streetlights came on. There was Trompie and the Boksombende, The A-Team, MacGyver, Airwolf and KITT. There were Chappies, Caravan, Tempo, Wilson Toffees and Nickerballs — little things that somehow became part of the soundtrack of growing up.
