This is gameplay from the excellent C64 collect-em-up game Park Patrol, released by Activision in 1984. The first game in this video, I get through to level 6, at which point there's nothing new to see. For the second game I switch to a girl ranger (a purely cosmetic change, which doesn't affect the gameplay) and get through to level 12, which is probably near my best. After that the title/demo loop runs through a few times (eight?), then I go to the menu and switch back to the boy-ranger default and let the demo run three more times. (It's the same demo every time. Don't wait for something different to happen.) :-) This game is played in the C64emu emulator by Daemon Pig Productions. It has an excellent simulated Commodore CRT display, and supports loading off tape images, with a simulated Datasette hum while it loads. So this video includes the entire tape loading experience. But there are chapter points, if you prefer to get right into the game. 00:00 Load 00:16 Found Park Patrol 00:58 Turbo Load 02:46 Loading Screen 04:48 Decompress to Title 05:05 Game One (boy ranger) 16:40 Game Over 17:22 Game Two (girl ranger) 46:55 Game Over 47:45 Demo (girl ranger) 57:49 Demo (boy ranger) If you want to see what the game looks like with a sharp, blocky pixel look, here is a video I recorded earlier, in the VICE emulator:    • Park Patrol  (C64  VICE  50Hz  no commentary)   The premise of Park Patrol is simple: You are a park ranger looking after the park. Your primary goal is to collect the litter, on the land and floating in the water. You have limited energy, and can return to your hut to get more. On land you must avoid the turtles and swamps. On the water there are snakes, and logs which make you fly out of the boat if you hit them at speed. Later on ants start to steal food (energy) from your hut, and swimmers appear in the water which must be avoided, and also might need rescuing at times, if they start to drown. As the game progresses the turtles become more aggressive, and the snakes/ants/swimmers become more numerous. There are also a couple of bonus tasks you might discover: if ejected from the boat, and you land on a log, you can attempt log-rolling until a timer runs out for some bonus points. There is also a unique plant to the west of the hut which will grow a little if you touch it. If it reaches full size you get super-speed for a time.
