Daytona USA Advanced course (MT) Drift practise (PS3)

Been practising my gear drifting (either 4-2-3-4 or 4-1-2-3-4) to get round corners on the advanced stage on the ps3 port of Daytona USA by SEGA. Can I improve from my practise run of hitting 7th?
