🚨 SJS / TEN — A TRUE CLINICAL EMERGENCY A simple-looking rash can rapidly progress to a life-threatening mucocutaneous reaction. ⚠️ Red flags to recognize: • Fever and malaise • Rapidly spreading painful rash • Blistering or skin detachment • Oral, ocular or genital mucosal involvement • Skin tenderness or severe pain 🆘 Clinical rescue starts immediately: 1️⃣ Identify and stop the suspected culprit drug urgently 2️⃣ Assess airway, breathing and circulation 3️⃣ Urgent referral/admission — preferably to a facility experienced in severe cutaneous adverse reactions/burn or ICU care 4️⃣ Assess fluid, electrolyte and nutritional needs 5️⃣ Early ophthalmology review when eyes are involved 6️⃣ Provide appropriate wound and infection-prevention care 7️⃣ Monitor for systemic complications and organ involvement ❗ Do not wait for extensive skin peeling. Early recognition can be critical. 📌 SJS/TEN is not an ordinary drug rash.
