A Historic Journey of Mawlana Hazar Imam in India | September 2026 On 9 September 2026, Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in India for his first visit to the country as the 50th Imam. This historic journey carried a deep connection to the heritage and history of the Ismaili Imamat and to a land closely associated with his ancestors. During his stay in Delhi, Mawlana Hazar Imam met with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, discussing important areas of cooperation, development, and the work of the Aga Khan Development Network in India. The journey then continued to Gujarat, a region deeply connected to the cultural, linguistic, and historical roots of the Ismaili Jamat. Here, Mawlana Hazar Imam met with the Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat, before granting two blessed Didars to the Jamats of Northern and Eastern Gujarat and Southern Saurashtra. The Didars were moments of profound joy, gratitude, and spiritual connection for thousands of murids.
