SHIV RATRI (PART 1) 🔱THE JOURNEY 🚗 JAINTI - BUXA (NORTH BENGAL) - COMMENTZ BOX This Vlog is all about the 2025 Shiv Ratri. Every year me, my family and friends, including my village people, visit this place, 30 km away from our homes. We love to serve people and to cut off completely from our materialistic life. This is the entire journey by car. Every year, more than a lakh people visit this remarkable region situated in Buxa–Jayanti, Alipurduar District, West Bengal. While the majority of visitors come from different parts of Bengal, this destination has gradually gained recognition among tourists from across India and even international travellers. On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, thousands of devotees undertake an extraordinary journey, trekking approximately 20–30 kilometres uphill on foot as an expression of faith and devotion. This tradition has continued for nearly 15–20 years. What initially began as a small initiative by a few businessmen and local residents from Alipurduar, Hamiltonganj and Kalchini—to provide food and accommodation for the devotees—gradually grew into a significant annual gathering. Over the years, the event has also helped strengthen the cultural connection and relationship between India and Bhutan. However, this long-running tradition may soon face an uncertain future. Due to growing concerns regarding forest safety, wildlife protection and environmental preservation, authorities may restrict or discontinue the pilgrimage from 2027 onwards. If that happens, an important chapter of faith, tradition and human connection may come to an end. *Note:* I changed a few phrases to make it sound documentary-like and emotionally engaging for a YouTube video.
