The use of the song in the set list, specifically the dates in 1970 when it was used, show some strategic thinking, commercially speaking, by Elvis. It was sung three times in August 1970, twice whilst MGM’s cameras were rolling, suggesting this was the main reason for it’s conclusion. The song’s omission from his first tour, during September and then it’s return for the November tour coincided with it’s release as a single, a fact alluded to by Elvis as he introduced the song. These first ten recorded renditions are certainly amongst the finest of Elvis’ live renditions of the song and this compilation contains all of the 1970 versions currently in the public domain. 00:00 Version One – 10 August 1970, Opening Show, Las Vegas – The First Live Rendition Version Two – 12 August 1970, Dinner Show – The MGM Rendition Version Three – 19 August 1970, Dinner Show – Las Vegas Version Four – 10 November 1970 – Oakland Version Five – 11 November 1970 – Portland Version Six – 12 November 1970 – Seattle Version Seven – 14 November 1970, Evening Show – Los Angeles Version Eight – 15 November 1970 – San Diego Version Nine – 16 November 1970 – Oklahoma Mis-type on the caption which states Version Ten!!
