I built a real timber gazebo house on a steep mountain slope from scratch — octagonal frame, honeycomb panel walls, and warm light glowing through every panel at dusk.
The site is a hillside in late autumn — bare trees, leaf-covered ground, and a slope that made every stage of the build a problem to solve before the work could start. The structure is octagonal, eight-sided timber frame raised on a dark stone base with a wraparound railing and entrance steps cut into the slope. The walls are filled with handcut honeycomb panels — hexagonal cells fitted into each section, letting warm light pour through from inside when the lamps are lit. The roof sits over it all in dark slate-style shingles, steep-pitched and clean against the grey winter sky.
At dusk the whole thing glows like something that shouldn't exist on a hillside in the middle of the forest. But it does, because the work got done.
