MXR Micro Chorus vs. Boss CE-2 (Vintage)

Welcome to Perky's Analog Gear Demos. Please subscribe! Here is a comparison between two chorus legends - a 1981 Boss CE-2 and a 1980 MXR Micro Chorus. Chorus pedals defined the sound of the 80s - possibly a little too much(!) but we love them all the same! The CE-2 has the MN3007 Bucket Brigade Chip; the Micro Chorus has the Reticon SAD512. To my ears, the CE-2 shelves off a little more low end and is a more 'shimmery' effect - the Micro Chorus is warmer & thicker, but a less obvious 'effect'...it is more subtle, especially at low speeds. Of course though, the Micro Chorus doesn't have a depth knob...although reducing the rate seems to reduce the depth slightly also, which I compensated for on the CE-2. Both are wonderful choruses - it's purely personal taste as to which you might prefer. Comment below with your thoughts!
