The Artist Behind the Loops, Damoyee | Dallas Famous Podcast

On this episode of the Dallas Famous Podcast, host Andrew Sherman sits down with Damoyee, a Dallas based live looping artist, singer and multi instrumentalist who builds complete songs on stage in real time using only a loop pedal and whatever instrument she picks up next. Damoyee walks through her entire looping process, explaining how she layers vocals, keys and rhythm to build a full band sound as a solo performer, and how that process has evolved since she first started performing. A graduate of Booker T Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and Berklee College of Music, Damoyee has composed music that has appeared in national advertising campaigns and is currently preparing for a multi city tour. In this conversation, she talks about her early classical piano training, how that foundation shaped her approach to live looping, what it is like to write and perform without a backing band, and the creative instincts that guide her while she is building a song live in front of an audience. Whether you are a musician curious about live looping technique, a fan of Dallas music and the Deep Ellum scene, or just discovering Damoyee for the first time, this episode goes deep into the process behind her sound. Stick around to the end to see Demoyee perform her original song "Don't Know."
