Shabads are hymns or spiritual poems written by saints and mystics from different spiritual traditions of the Indian subcontinent. The shabads convey a deep message of truth and are sung with heartfelt devotion. They express the intense longing of the soul for union with the Lord. These songs of devotion are prayers that inspire the true seeker to turn inwards to contact the ultimate Truth – the inner divine music that reverberates within every being. The soul-drop left the ocean of Truth and reached the tenth gate. From there it descended into the physical body and settled in the world of the nine doors. Creating a relationship with mind and senses, it got entangled in the world. Life after life it suffered the agony of drifting in the stream of transmigration. It becomes oblivious of its primal home – the court of Sat Purush, the true Lord. Every time it had the opportunity to come in human form, it never developed love for the Satguru. It kept on wandering in doubt and distress – how could it cross the ocean of existence? Then the true Guru, out of his mercy, came to earth. He proclaimed the path of Shabd in so many ways. But Kal has spread such a web of deceit that the essence of the path remains hidden. Kal has lured people into a vast net of rites, rituals, superstition, and hypocrisy. He has deceived scholars through their intellectual self-indulgence, and preachers through their self-conceit. Bound by the knot of matter and spirit, they proclaim hollow doctrines. They do not follow the path of Surat Shabd Yoga. They are deceived by the adversary, the mind, which never gives up its perverse ways. Do not keep their company, for they will besiege you, destroy you. There is hardly a true seeker in the world – everyone indulges in discussion and argument. All use their holy garb simply to make a living – they are arrogant; they thrive on their conceit. Radha Soami cautions you: Be on your guard against them. Take firm refuge with the Saints, for Kal is formidable. Unless your soul tastes the nectar of Shabd, it will go on suffering humiliation. Therefore seek the companionship of a Master to regain entry into your own home. This shabad is published by Radha Soami Satsang Beas. You may visit our official website at: https://www.rssb.org
