To celebrate, here is SLOOP 2.8 - a free, open-source firmware that turns the M-VAVE FM-1 into a four-track groovebox. The whole soundtrack of this video, a warm house track, is played by SLOOP itself: its engines, kit and sequencer. New in 2.8: NOTES editor: a piano-roll note editor for the synth tracks - KNOB 1 the notes, KNOB 2 the pitch, KNOB 3 the length, KNOB 4 the feel. Hold OCT+ on a step for slide, nudge, fill, move, copy and delete The same per-step sheet on the DRUMS grid: ratchet, nudge, fill, move, copy, delete The playing section on the main screen: TRACKS now shows which section, A to D, is playing, in its own colour Filter resonance: the per-track filter gains a resonance setting, from clean to singing (AUDIO menu) The FX filter on the drum track too: sweep and shape the whole kit, live Drum TUNE on the noise sounds: TUNE now shapes the brightness of tone-less sounds - closed hats, shakers, claps - on the synthesised kits A smoother punch-in: a settable fade-in and out for the punch-in effects (hold FX, then SELECT) Steadier MIDI clock in: the tempo is read from the average of the last beats, so a steady 140 stays 140, and a real tempo change is taken at once MIDI Bank Select (CC 0): reach every preset past the 128 Program Change range, including your own user presets by slot Fixed and polished: USB RESCUE (hold OCT- at power-on) now opens reliably; the installer finds the FM-1's update loader by its handshake, so "Install from the browser" works where Windows renamed the port; the SONG sections take the theme's colours.
