ONE on ONE Guest Scott Jaquith 2/4/2011

Supporting students and families: ONE on ONE with Guest Scott Jaquith (February 4, 2011) In this edition of ONE on ONE, Michael Brindley, education reporter for The Telegraph, sits down with Scott Jaquith, School Social Worker at Fairgrounds Middle School, to discuss the critical role social workers play in supporting students, bridging home and school life, and addressing community challenges in the Nashua School District. How social work differs from academic guidance counseling—connecting families to community resources, making home visits, facilitating healthcare access (like NH Healthy Kids Medicaid), and organizing basic need supplies to improve school attendance. Addressing real-world obstacles facing students, from family economic hardships and working to support households, to older siblings babysitting or translating for family members.
