While cheering from the sidelines having suffered a hamstring strain a week earlier, Alex Morgan cheers on her Olympique Lyonnais Feminine (“OLF”) teammates as they battle D1 Feminine (“D1F”) League rival Paris Saint-Germain (“PSG”) in the French Cup (“Coupe de France”) Feminine (“FCF”) Championship match held in Vannes, France in front of roughly 6,616 spectators on May 19th, 2017 at Stade de la Rabine (“Stadium Rabine”). This HD footage captures full regulation time as OLF and PSG tied 1-1 on goals from PSG striker and Brazilian International, Christiane in the 7th minute and and a converted penalty kick by OLF midfielder and Japanese International, Saki Kumagai in the 34th minute after OLF forward and French International, Eugénie Le Sommer was taken down inside the 6-yard box during an OLF corner kick. The French Cup is a unique tournament with strange rules and so there were no two fifteen minute periods of extra time. Instead after a tie in regulation, the match was immediately decided on penalty kicks, with OLF winning 7-6. As stated above, Morgan watched from the stands with the OLF reserves after coming up lame with a hamstring strain in the 40th minute of the D1F match versus PSG at Parc Olympique Lyonnais (“Parc OL”), a 59,186-seat stadium in Décines-Charpieu, a suburb of Lyon, France nicknamed the Grand Stade and the Stade des Lumières on May 13th, 2017 that saw OLF beat PSG 3-0 on goals from strikers Eugénie Le Sommer, Ada Hegerberg and Morgan and was subbed off soon thereafter, replaced by fellow striker and French International, Elodie Thomis. The match was of little consequence except for bragging rights as OLF already wrapped up its eleventh consecutive D1F League Championship Title on May 8th, 2017 versus Soyaux in a 9-0 rout. OLF sought a little revenge given their only league loss came at the hands of PSG earlier in 2016 before Morgan joined the squad. Next up OLF and PSG will face off for the UEFA Women’s Champions League (“UWCL” or “European Cup” or “Coupe de Europe”) in Cardiff (the capital of Wales, United Kingdom) on June 1st, 2017 with the title on the line and the chance for OLF to repeat as winners of the Championship Treble (“Triple”). Morgan and the OLF staff are doing everything possible to help her recover in time to play in the UWCL Final, given it is as she said: “her dream” to play in it. No American has ever won the UWCL in its current form meaning a win would add another rare jewel into Morgan’s royal WoSo crown, already having been crowned a U-20 and Senior Women’s World Cup (“WWC”) Champion in Chile 2008 and Canada 2015 and claiming a Gold Medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
