What happens when being responsible slowly turns into being responsible for everything? Whether you’re working in a corporate office, leading a team, building a business, or managing a home, women are often expected to quietly take on more — more organising, more remembering, more follow-ups, more emotional labour, and more responsibility. In Episode 2 of LAARC Soar Sessions, we continue the conversation with an honest and insightful round-table discussion about the everyday experiences women navigate at work — from having their ideas overlooked or credited to someone else, to being interrupted, managing timelines, organising meetings, and becoming the person everyone automatically turns to when something needs to get done. Because sometimes, the person who does more… simply gets given more. And the conversation doesn’t stop at the workplace. We move from these micro-struggles to the invisible load women often carry at home — the planning, remembering, anticipating, organising, and emotional responsibility that doesn’t always have a name, but still takes up space. This isn’t just a conversation about workload. It’s about the expectations attached to being the person who can “handle it.” It’s about recognising invisible labour, understanding boundaries, sharing responsibility, and questioning why doing more is so often treated as an expectation rather than an achievement. If you’ve ever: Found yourself automatically taking responsibility for organising things Had your ideas overlooked, interrupted, or credited to someone else Felt like being capable meant being given even more work Been expected to manage the details everyone else forgets Carried the mental load at home even after your workday ended Wondered why saying “I’ll do it” became easier than asking someone else to …this episode is for you. ✨ In This Episode The micro-struggles women experience at work When your ideas are overlooked or credited to someone else Why the person who does more often gets given more Gender expectations around responsibility and communication The invisible work behind organising, planning, and managing Navigating workplace expectations and boundaries The difference between being capable and being constantly available The invisible load women carry at home Mental load, emotional labour, and the work nobody sees Why sharing responsibility matters Recognising the work that often goes unnoticed Creating more balanced workplaces and homes 🎙️ Meet Our Guests Shantha Shankar Brand & Communications Consultant LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/shanthash...
