Humanity has to speak up.... Each of us carries a story, a scar, and a desperate sense of hopelessness when witnessing how human rights are being dismissed and empathy is selective... There is nothing I wish for more than for the human rights of EVERYONE to be truly at the forefront of minds, especially those who make decisions that influence the masses. **** I am ultimately grateful to the invited teachers: Silvia Brazzoli, Julia Farid, Hind Taoufiq, and Luna for joining this choreography, as well as my dear friends Sanne and Mendy, and my lovely raqs sharqi students. The clip at the beginning of the video was projected onto the curtains at the start of the performance... I decided to choreograph this piece to the song "Mama Eh" by Chilean-Palestinian singer Elyanna, as it speaks to me with its urgency... **** Choreography: Badriyah Music: Elyanna - Mama Eh Videography: Marc Antoinne Festival: Leylet Raqs, Gent, Belgium Venue: Shoonya Dance Centre #humanity #equalrights #metoo #climatechange #freepalestine #abortionrights #blacklivesmatter #humanrights #artistsunited
