The Making of the 9th Toyota Corolla [JP VHS 1080p]

A promotional VHS tape made for the ninth-generation of the Toyota Corolla. Otherwise known as NCV or "New Century Vehicle". Used to promote sales of the new Corolla to global markets. One of my favorite tapes, it is an extremely dramatic telling of how Toyota developed one of their most important cars. Tons of insight into car designing and engineering that I don't think I've seen presented by any other brand in quite this way. It's fun, it's actually really well made, and gorgeously shot. Sadly my copy of the tape is pretty blurry. This was captured at 480i resolution at 29.97 frames per second , then deinterlaced using BWDIF, up-scaled to 1080p using Topaz Video AI. Some artifacts are going to occur, especially in out-of-focus scenes or scenes where objects are small and far away but the video AI helped clean up a lot of bad color, aliasing etc in this pretty old and degraded tape. Subs made using Subly / OpenAI Whisper and then hand massaged by me, mistakes are bound to happen as I don't speak Japanese. The translation AI seemed to struggle with some of the interviews, so some are downright nonsensical... I think the story is intact though via the subtitles. All copyrights their respective owners, this is not a commercial operation, just want to save this stuff for enjoyment in my free time.
